El bolso de lona de 80 años de antigüedad que Alexa Chung no se quita este verano ya lo llevó Carolyn Bessette en los 90

The 80-year-old canvas bag that Alexa Chung won't take off this summer was worn by Carolyn Bessette in the 90s

No raffia bags, baskets or baskets. The most sought-after bag this summer is the cotton canvas bag with a sporty look by L.L. Bean, a design that Alexa Chung never takes off and that Carolyn Bessette already brought forward in the 90s.

Rarely does a celebrity's favourite bag cost less than 50 euros. Britain's Alexa Chung is one of the latest to join the canvas bag craze, specifically the Boat & Tote model by L.L. Bean. This design, which is now 80 years old, originated in Maine (USA) in 1944 for a very different purpose than today: to carry ice from the car to the freezer. Thanks to the bag's strength and the high quality of its materials, people began to use it for all sorts of things like grocery shopping and other household chores. A couple of decades later, in the 1960s, it was no longer just a practical bag, it was fashionable.

Since then, many celebrities have worn it: Carolyn Bessette Kennedy wore it in the 90s and Reese Witherspoon has been seen with it in all kinds of situations. Chloë Sevigny, Gwyneth Paltrow and Sarah Jessica Parker are other famous faces who have shown their love for it, and now Alexa Chung has joined the list. Their favourite? The short-handled one in off-white and navy blue, a design that costs less than 50 euros, although on the brand's website you can choose between multiple sizes, colours and even two handle lengths.
